A Step-By-Step Guide On Nailing Your Everyday Look And Doing Makeup Like A Pro

Step 1: Prep your skin

As any good makeup artist would advise, it is important  to prep your skin first before proceeding with the makeup. Treat it like  a blank canvas that you need to intricately prepare before painting.

For this step, you may want to make sure that your face is thoroughly cleansed. After that, do your usual skincare routine. (We highly recommend doing a full skincare routine before applying makeup for best results!)

For the prep stage, you may also opt to use face serums which softens and moisturizes your skin. . These products will leave the surface of your skin much, much smoother, and ready for makeup,

Step 2: Go for the primer

The key to professional-looking makeup is to make sure that your skin has a smooth base. This makes foundation application not only easier but more precise and flawless.

For this step, evenly apply your chosenprimer all over your face. You may use your fingers, or for a more clear-cut application, use a flat foundation brush.

You may also opt for a primer that also has nourishing and hydrating ingredients that will leave your skin moisturized after every use.

Step 3: Apply your liquid foundation

After you have fully prepped your face, it’s time to apply the first layer of your makeup: the foundation. For this step, you may use your usual liquid foundation, BB cream, or tinted moisturizer.

If you’re opting for a lighter, more casual makeup look, you may want to go for something lightweight. And if you’re looking to do full makeup, then something that offers full coverage is what you need.

For this step, you may want to start at the center of your face and gently blend the product into your skin. You can use your fingers for this or a flat foundation brush. A makeup sponge orBeautyblender may also do the job well.

Lastly, if you’re going for a nighttime look that requires more coverage, then don’t hesitate to build. You can do  this by applying thin layers of foundation until you reach your desired coverage.

Step 4: Use your concealer where it is needed

Next up is the concealer. But remember, only apply this if you feel like you need additional coverage, especially on parts where concealing is needed.

To create a brighter look around the eye area, create a triangle under your eyes and gently blend the concealer using your ring finger or a concealer brush. Keep in mind that the undereye area is sensitive,  so you should  be extra gentle when working on this area.

Step 5: Set your foundation and concealer with a translucent powder

The next step is to ensure that your foundation and concealer stays in place. Seal them using a light, translucent powder.

For this step, you may want to apply it using a fluffy powder brush and dab the powder all over your face. Remember to go lightly and to not put too much of the powder as it would look cakey.

Step 6: Accentuate using highlights

For the next step, it’s time to accentuate your features. Do this by using a trustyhighlighter. You may do this by using a powder or a liquid highlighter to emphasize the prominent areas on your face.

If you are using powder, go ahead and highlight your cheekbones using a fan brush. Should  you opt for a liquid highlighter, then a fluffy powder brush will get the job done right. This gives the skin that nice, natural-looking, dewy glow.

Step 7: Pop in some color onto your cheeks using your blush

And then it’s time to pop in some color on your cheeks! If you’re opting for an everyday look, then we highly recommend using a blush and bronzer mix.

Essentially, what you want to do is to use a small, soft powder brush to apply the product under your cheekbones and also along your hairline. You want to apply the bronzer first, just along the hollows of your cheeks, hairline, and jawline. This would create  that nice, contouring effect.

After the bronzer, go for the blush and layer it under your cheekbones. Remember not to go too much on the blush and to pop in just the right color.

Step 8: Seal it with a makeup setting spray

Last and definitely not least: sealing your makeup! For this step, you want to opt for a setting spray in making sure that your makeup stays in place all day. Essentially, this step will also keep your makeup from caking or oiling up, especially if you won’t be doing any retouch.

To get this done, grab your makeup setting spray and do a few spritzes on your face. Hold the spray bottle about six to eight inches away from your space and evenly spray it all over.

Remember to not go overboard on this as little pretty much goes a long way on this!
